Makeup In The Park

We believe that the first step to any and every makeup look is to first be comfortable with yourself and love the skin your in. So to start this look, here's us loving our skin ;)

Dee's trick: If you saw my post about my skin, you will know that I have dry, rosacea prone skin with lots of little baby hairs along my cheeks. To be able to apply foundation easily and with minimal pressure and excessive blending - which can make the redness worse - I dampen my foundation brush with MAC fix+.

Foundation
Summer is hot and that can sometimes make foundation a tricky step! So we opt for a lighter coverage BB cream during the warm summer months.  It's a medium coverage, it's hydrating, and it doesn't run off your face in the heat!
Bee uses: Stilla BB cream! Love this stuff. I also use a little bit of cover FX concealer to help with any red marks. It makes the BB cream almost full coverage without being too heavy! I blend both in using our holy grail sigma f84 kabuki brush.
Dee uses: Revlon Photo Ready BB Cream in 010 Light, using MAC Select Moisture Cover concealer in NW15 to help with any problem spots. The trick I find with applying any type of foundation when you are a natural redhead is to let your freckles shine through and this kind of coverage is perfect since it looks so natural.

Highlighter
We love using highlighter in the summer to achieve a beautiful glowing complexion! Highlight a triangle under your eye to brighten the eye area. And a little on the sides on your mouth so achieve a chiseled look!
Bee uses Mac Prep + Prime Highlighter pen in Radiant Rose. This can also be used instead of a powdered highlighter for a more natural highlighted look on the cheek bones.
Dee uses Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighter Concealer in the shade Ivory under the eyes and across the cheek bones with MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle on top of the cheekbones.

Powder
Setting your foundation in the summer is key to avoid melting makeup!
Bee uses physicians formula BB powder in light medium with a Mac 134 powder brush
Dee uses Rimmel Stay Matte powder in 003 natural with a Sigma F30 - large powder brush

Bronzer
Give your skin a natural bronzed look using a matte light bronzing powder. Contour in the hollows of your cheek to accent your cheekbones (bronze above the higher light you put on the sides of your mouth)
Bee and Dee both use NYC sunny bronzer! Super inexpensive and Absolutely our favorite bronzer.

Blush
Give a natural dose of color to your face with applying a light dusting of your favourite blush. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks and sweep the color along the apples and back towards your temples to get a natural flushed effect.
Bee uses Pink Swoon by Mac with a real techniques multi-purpose brush.
Dee uses a small version of Tarte's Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in the color Dollface with a Real Techniques Multi-purpose brush.

Dees eye look

Using the Stila In the Lights Pallete, start by sweeping the color Bare across the lid from the lash line to the brow bone, using a MAC 286 brush, as a natural highlight and a neutral base for the rest of the shadows to be applied to.

Next, apply Kitten to the lid using a MAC 242 brush, being careful to not place it too deep into the crease.

Next, apply Bliss into the crease using a windshield-wiper motion to distribute the color evenly to the outer 3/4 of the crease and outer corner of the lid, using a MAC 217 brush. Blend the crease color using a MAC 286 brush to give an airbrushed look but be careful not to over blend or the colors will become muddied.

Next, apply the color Bubbly to the upper lash line using a MAC 216 pencil brush and blend with a MAC 286 brush.
Finally, use the MAC 216 pencil brush to apply Bare to the inner corner of the eye, then apply Kitten to the inner 1/4 of the lower lash line and apply a mixture of Bubbly and Bliss to the rest of the lower lash line.

Mascara
Dee uses Covergirl Clump Crusher in water resistant (this mascara is NOT waterproof by the way) in blackest black. If you want your lashes to look even thicker, try tight-lining your eyes - which is where you place eyeliner on the inside rim of the eye lids - with a dark brown shade. Brown is less harsh than black and gives the effect of naturally thicker lashes while also defining the eyes. For this look Dee is using Stila Smudge Stick waterproof eyeliner in the color Damsel to do this.

Bees eye look

One of my favorite pallets of all time is the Urban Decay Naked pallet. Very verstille and good for the whole year!
Starting with a flat shader brush, pack the second lightest color, sin, onto the lid. Using a fluffy crease brush, deepen the crease with naked. This will add a little bit of demension to your eye without looking to harsh for summer. If you want you can deepen it a little more by adding a small amount of the darker matte brown, buck, into the outer corner of your eye. Finish by using the brightest color, virgin, to highlight your brown bone and inner corner of your eye. Dont forget to blend all the colors in for an even display of color using a clean fluffy blending brush. On this day i decided to add a little color to my bottom lashes by using NYX jumbo pencil in French fries.

Bees trick! Use a white liner or jumbo pencil and draw a thin line under your brow. Blend out with your finger and apply your highlight color over top! This makes your highlight color pop even more and truly opens your eyes!

Mascara
Bee uses hypnos star by Lancome, and clinique bottom lash mascara. More to come about this amazing mascara duo!

Lips
Bee uses NYX strawberry milk lipstick and NYX nude pink lip gloss. Such a beautiful baby pink combination and perfect for summer! Not to mention so inexpensive!
Dee uses Revlon Lip Butter in Crème Brule and Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in the number 256. This gloss is the perfect nude pink for lighter skin tones and looks great on its own or paired with a lipstick, or in this case, a lip butter.

Our finished looks!

Dont forget to set your makeup with your favorite setting spray! We used urban decay Delick (for oily skin) and Urban Decay Chill(for dry, rosacea prone skin).

We hope you enjoyed this summer makeup tutorial!!
