Fall into Fall: Makeup

With the changing of the seasons - and lets face it fall is the best season for both makeup and fashion- we have to change our makeup accordingly. The best part of transitioning your makeup is that you can still use your favorite summer looks! With a few minor, and beautiful, adjustments you can easily transition your bright summer makeup into a sultry fall look.

The Face

So here is the time to slightly increase the coverage of your foundation or BB cream. Depending on where you live, it can remain quite warm so you don't want to go full-coverage just yet. An easy way to transition your BB cream into fall is to layer a higher coverage (not a full-coverage) powder on top. Bee recommends the Physicians Formula BB powder. Going for a full-coverage foundation right now will result in a melting face and that's just not pretty. So stick with a BB cream or tinted moisturizer and go a little heavier on the powder. If you cant afford a new powder, use a heavier hand and use a flat brush to pat the powder onto your skin, pressing it in instead of sweeping.

Ditch the bronzer! Fall and winter is all about the look of natural porcelain skin. Using bronzer in the colder months tends to look very orange and fake. Darker complexions can still get away with wearing bronzer, but us pale faces cannot! Still feel free chisel out your cheek bones by contouring, but try to opt for a light matte bronzer or a powder 2-3 shades darker than your natural skin tone. Try NYC sunny bronzer, or MACs mineralized skin finish natural.

Blush it up! With less bronzer, blush is very important to give you a natural flush of color in the fall. Change your bright summer pink blush for a darker plum, or even brown toned blush. We love NYX powder blush in plum, MAC gingerly, or Bobbi Brown in tawny. If brown blushes are too dark for your skin tone, you can always mix it up with a light wisp of a brighter pink tone blush to lessen the harsh difference in skin tone. Dee likes adding Tarte Amazonian clay blush in Doll Face for this trick.

The Eyes

Looking back at our makeup in the park eye looks, its easy to tweak these looks for a sultry fall look. Fall eyes tend to be more matte, have no glitter, and are usually darker shades. Bee's eye was a bright matte look. Add a darker brown or taupe color to the crease, and add a little more eye liner and its ready for fall. Dees look was a bit more shimmery. First, a darker shade on the lid will instantly make it more sultry and using more matte shades will also deepen the look. If you don't want to part with your shimmer, you can rock a darker, more bronze than gold, shade on the lid with a matte brown in the crease. Top it off with a dark brown eyeliner, like the one used for Dee's eye look, in both the water line and on the lid and your good to go. And with sultry looks you need to bump up those lashes. At least 2-3 coats of mascara are needed.

The Lips

Time to bring those reds and berries! Fall is all about a darker bold lip. Bee is loving YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in #5 topped with Revlon Super Lustrous Lip gloss in 240 Fatal Apple. Dee is all about ease of convenience with a pop of color so she opts for the Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle for a fuss-proof fall lip.
